Cytokine and Chemokine mRNA Expressions after Mycobacterium tuberculosis-Specific Antigen Stimulation in Whole Blood from Hemodialysis Patients with Latent Tuberculosis Infection

چکیده

There have been few reports on the kinetics of hemodialyzed (HD) patients’ immune responses in latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). Therefore, present study, messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) expression levels nine markers were analyzed to discriminate between HD patients with LTBI and healthy individuals. Nine cytokines chemokines screened through relative mRNA whole blood samples after stimulation Mycobacterium (MTB)-specific antigens from (HD/LTBI), without LTBI, individuals, results compared QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube (QFT-GIT) test. We confirmed that C-C motif chemokine 11 (CCL11) level HD/LTBI group was significantly higher than other two groups. Especially, CCL11 >0.7 IU/mL QFT-GIT test <0.2 0.2–0.7 (p = 0.0043). The study reveals statistically different based current cut-off value (i.e., ≥0.35 IU/mL) group. These suggest might be an alternative biomarker for diagnosis patients.

Latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infection.

To the Editor: In their review article, Getahun et al. (May 28 issue)1 provide a useful overview of issues surrounding latent tuberculosis infection. However, newly published data regarding the performance of the T-SPOT.TB assay call into question the supposition that false conversions and reversions are more common with interferon-γ release assays (IGRAs) than with tuberculin skin tests.2 Spec...

Evaluation and Comparison of Body Mass Index and Albumin Level in Patients with Active Tuberculosis and Latent Tuberculosis Infection

Introduction: Limited data are available on the relationship between nutritional status and tuberculosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the body mass index (BMI) and serum albumin level in patients with active tuberculosis (ATB) and latent tuberculosis (LTB). Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 17 patients newly diagnosed with pulmonary TB  who we...

Evaluation of Interleukin17and Interleukin 23 expression in patients with active and latent tuberculosis infection

Objective(s): Tuberculosis is one of the most important infectious diseases with high mortality rates worldwide, especially in developing countries. Interleukin17 (IL-17) is an important acquired immunity cytokine, which is mainly produced by CD4+TH17 cells. It can recruit neutrophils and macrophages to the infected site in the lungs. IL-23 is one of the most important inducers of IL-17. In the...

TUBERCULOSIS Performance of a whole blood interferon gamma assay for detecting latent infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis in children

Background: The diagnosis of latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) infection with a tuberculin skin test (TST) in children is complicated by the potential influence of prior exposure to Bacille Calmette Geurin (BCG) vaccination or environmental mycobacteria. A whole blood assay has recently been developed to quantitatively measure interferon gamma (IFN-c) production by lymphocytes specific to...

Analysis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis-Specific CD8 T-Cells in Patients with Active Tuberculosis and in Individuals with Latent Infection

CD8 T-cells contribute to control of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, but little is known about the quality of the CD8 T-cell response in subjects with latent infection and in patients with active tuberculosis disease. CD8 T-cells recognizing epitopes from 6 different proteins of Mycobacterium tuberculosis were detected by tetramer staining. Intracellular cytokines staining for specific pr...
